In this essay it is going to be discussed how social stratification was practiced in South Africa before the inception of democracy and how exactly these occurrences have changed. It is going to be shown how social stratification has changed after the democratic era.

Although these issues currently impede the economic growth of Africa and the social welfare of its citizens that live in the 54 countries that make up the continent, there is a change taking place where the digital age is being embraced and in doing so a new Africa is evolving.

Poverty in South Africa has lead to many problems in South Africa such as lack of skills, crime and education. Capital is what revolves around these socio-economic issues, because of the demand for capital people with a lack of skills cannot afford school and so they have no education.

White South Africans: Social and economic issues White people make up about 9% of the South African population. The Afrikaans-speaking Dutch descendants known as the Afrikaners make up about 61% of the White South African population, followed by the Anglophone descendants of predominantly British colonists who make up about 36%.

South Africa remains a divided society. Being the, ahem, think tank that we are, Leader.co.za decided to assemble our own posse of respected intellectuals to thrash out the issues at hand. But this time round, we went in search of solutions. 1.

Apartheid Apartheid was a system of racial segregation in South Africa, which basically involved the creation of separate places for different racial groups, such as blacks and whites. The purpose was to preserve the power of the white minority, which was at that time 21% of the population.

In the 21st century, South Africa is a democratic country representing all its diverse people-often called the rainbow nation. Today South Africa is making up for decades of social disruption and lost education, but high unemployment and the AIDS epidemic threaten economic progress.

Hopefully in upcoming World Cups, the host country’s economic and social issues are granted more attention than they were in South Africa. The argument, that such a large economic, cultural, political and social event such as the World Cup will only temporarily or artificially resolve many internal problems that a host-country may face, will.

Social Problems Affecting Youth Today and Ways to Solve Them Society nowadays isn’t what it was a decade ago. People change and so does the society they live in. The problems that our grandparents experienced with our parents aren’t the same that our parents experience with us.

South Africa is currently experiencing a number of economic and social problems. Many of these problems are due to the policy of apartheid which dominated South African politics during the past four decades. This policy, which called for racial segregation, resulted in international disapproval and economic sanctions during the 1980's.
